FMC Marks Manufacturing Milestone for Dodhylex™ Herbicide

FMC Corporation has successfully produced its first commercial batch of Dodhylex™ active (tetflupyrolimet), a pre-emergence and early post-emergence herbicide with broad application in rice cultivation. This milestone marks the first new herbicide mode of action introduced in over three decades, addressing resistant grass weed challenges in rice farming.

“The successful production of our first commercial batch of Dodhylex™ active represents a pivotal milestone in FMC’s innovation journey,” said Ronaldo Pereira, President, FMC Corporation. “This achievement validates our manufacturing capabilities and also moves us closer to delivering this breakthrough molecule to market.”

With global herbicide resistance increasing, Dodhylex™ active provides season-long control of resistant and yield-robbing grass weeds, helping farmers improve productivity and ensure sustainable weed management.

Regulatory Progress and Market Expansion

FMC has submitted regulatory dossiers for Dodhylex™ active in India, Brazil, the United States, the Philippines, Colombia, South Korea, Peru, Taiwan, Japan, and Malaysia. These countries represent approximately 35% of the world’s 165 million hectares of rice cultivation.

Conditional regulatory approval was recently received in the Philippines, where initial sales are expected later this year.
Full commercial launches are anticipated in 2026, as approvals progress across key markets.
Future applications in crops beyond rice include soybean, sunflower, sugarcane, and corn, expanding the potential market impact.

“With manufacturing capabilities now demonstrated and regulatory submissions advancing in key markets, we are well positioned to begin commercial launches in 2026,” Pereira added. “This molecule represents a significant market opportunity, particularly given the growing challenge of herbicide resistance in rice production.”

Innovation and Sustainability in Crop Protection

Dodhylex™ active was discovered at FMC’s Stine Research Center, leveraging advanced R&D techniques, including:

High-volume screening
Chemical genomics
Target-based design methods

These approaches resulted in a novel herbicide mode of action that offers effective and long-lasting weed control. FMC remains committed to sustainable crop protection solutions, ensuring that new innovations help growers maximize yields while reducing environmental impact.
